Trade Compliance Manager

The Trade Compliance Manager position is an exciting opportunity for individuals with expertise or an interest in compliance, particularly within the customs and international trade sector. Based in EU, this role offers the chance to become part of a highly skilled Global Team, operating within a dynamic and growth-focused environment. Candidates will leverage their analytical and organizational skills to support, drive, and enhance the company’s trade compliance functions.

As a member of the Trade Compliance team, the Trade Compliance Manager collaborates closely with the business to shape and advance worldwide customs (import and export) processes to maximize duty savings. This collaboration is crucial to ensure robust and efficient compliance management across internal functions, adhering to the latest international regulations.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Develop and drive the direction of global customs compliance processes.
  • Drive the continuous development and implementation of FTA processes by coordinating with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely collection of supplier origin statements, conducting regular eligibility assessments for preferential origin, and maintaining up-to-date documentation to maximize duty savings.
  • Lead periodic self-assessments or audits at a global scale, ensuring corrective actions are implemented for full compliance with trade regulations and internal policies.
  • Elevate the maturity level of customs compliance within MP’s processes.
  • Determine and assign the correct HS classification in the GTS system
  • Establish and improve worldwide customs filing and classification processes (including HS commodity codes, rules of origin, usage of FTA agreement, WTO valuation rules).
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with internal departments for compliance-related activities.
  • Maintain and deploy Group Trade Compliance policies and procedures, and train others in these procedures.

These responsibilities position the Trade Compliance Manager as a pivotal figure in ensuring that the organization meets the ever-evolving requirements of international trade regulations.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Ability to quickly grasp business needs and anticipate potential issues, providing risk management recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a similar role relating to customs compliance processes.
  • Ability to maintain productive relationships with public regulators and other external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience implementing initiatives within a diverse, global organization.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience delivering training to a diverse workforce.
  • Background in highly regulated, commercial, and international environments.
  • Absolute integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • Additional language proficiency and a genuine interest or affinity for compliance are considered advantageous.
