About The Team
The Product Development Team at Gotion Illinois New Energy Inc. focuses on the design and development of advanced battery products for next-generation energy storage system (ESS) and electric vehicle (EV) applications. We lead the full product development cycle, integrating mechanical, electrical, thermal, and control system to create high-performance battery solutions, along with comprehensive system integration, validation, and certification activities.

Role Summary

As a Thermal Engineer – Battery Systems at Gotion Inc, you will play a pivotal role in leading the engineering decisions for battery cells, modules, packs, cooling plates, thermal propagation mitigation strategies in collaboration with US OEM customers and our internal design/simulation teams. This position requires a deep understanding of battery pack technology and a strong background in engineering project leadership. This position requires full-time onsite presence at the Manteno, IL location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform state-of-the-art Thermal/CFD simulations to analyze pressure drop, thermal efficiency, thermal propagation etc. of battery packs and module components to optimize the performance of next-generation EV battery systems
  • Collaborate with US OEM customers and the internal product development team to drive new pack designs from concept to mass production
  • Collaborate with offshore simulation team to manage end-to-end analysis processes, maintaining technical quality, efficiency, result analysis, alignment with project objectives and ensuring compliance with performance and quality standards
  • Prepare and present technical findings, design trade-offs, and recommended actions and report to the leadership team
  • Work closely with Product design, manufacturing, test, supply chain, quality etc. teams to provide simulation-driven design input. Handle supplier discussions
  • Correlate simulation outcomes with physical test data and update models to improve accuracy
  • Support DFMEA, Design reviews, Test and Validation team to lay out the plan for the DVP&R testing
  • Document CFD modeling approaches and simulation results, offering data-driven insights to assist design teams in improving thermal performance

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field
  • At least 3+ years of experience in high voltage battery pack thermal design and simulations and supporting product development life cycle
  • Proficiency using COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or other CAE tools for thermal/CFD simulation. Including design tools such as CATIA V6
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles and a history of applying this knowledge to solve complex problems
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support projects

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000.00 - $128,000.00 + 15% bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
