JOB SUMMARY

This entry-level Test Engineer position will support medical device R&D staff within the Infusion Management Solutions business. The principal purpose of the role is to provide device testing support to product and process development teams from initial concept through release to manufacturing while maintaining lab operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop mechanical-based test methods and perform test method validations for new product platforms
- Contribute to the design and fabrication of fixtures for the testing and measurement of injection molded plastic and silicone parts and assemblies
- Track/Reorder requisite testing supplies and assist with equipment selection and qualification
- Perform various product assembly activities using ultrasonic welding, UV curing and similar plastic joining technologies
- Execute feasibility testing/DOEs and capture requisite data (functional/dimensional/observational) for making evidenced-based engineering decisions
- Conduct rigorous design verification testing in accordance with test protocols and author reports that compare testing outcomes to acceptance criteria via statistical methodologies
- Investigate critical product/process failures to efficiently guide root cause analysis
- Implement and uphold lab safety procedures
- Work with lab services companies to ensure lab equipment, instrumentation, gauges, etc. are functioning and calibrated in accordance with regulatory requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KEY REQUIREMENTS)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Medical device internship experience preferred
- Familiar with polymers and related manufacturing processes
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Analytical mindset towards examining data and breaking down problems into smaller components that test hypotheses and inform decision-making
- Strong ability to communicate technical issues to all stakeholder groups
- Competent using statistical analysis software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A high degree of mobility and manual dexterity are required as well as an ability to lift and carry test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close-up visual acuity and considerable use of computer screens.
