Terminal Manager - Kwinana

Main Purpose:

Puma Energy Bitumen has a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead the team at our Kwinana Bitumen Facility which is a Puma owned and operated terminal facility with JV Storage.

The role will be responsible for delivering safe and efficient operations, including but not limited to:
•managing operational and contractual performance of the JV;
•managing supply and manufacturing operations;
•balancing maintenance and capital works whilst meeting operational and customer requirements;
•controlling operational expenditure; and
•leading the implementation of operational improvements.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

In this role you will be responsible for delivering safe and efficient operations, including but not limited to:

  • Managing operational and contractual performance of the JV;

  • Managing supply and manufacturing operations;

  • Balancing maintenance and capital works whilst meeting operational and customer requirements;

  • Controlling operational expenditure; and

  • Leading the implementation of operational improvements.

This role will suit someone looking to enhance their Leadership and Commercial Skills in a dynamic, challenging operational environment.

  • Lead an internal operations team for manufacturing operations to ensure production meets Customer demands and requirements;
  • Support the 3rd party maintenance team to minimise impact of equipment breakdowns;
  • Maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Write, develop and maintain procedures;
  • Manage the Puma Safety Health Management system (SAPS) for Puma operations, while ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and other regulatory requirements (e.g. DMIRS);
  • Manage ship discharge requirements for Puma and support reliable operation of control system and automated gantry;
  • Schedule and Plan customer manufacturing orders;
  • Operate as the Puma representative for the JV operations and ensure performance levels meet contractual requirements under all contracts and agreements;
  • Write, develop and maintain procedures and manage Permit to Work and SAPS systems, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and other regulatory requirements;
  • Provide supervision of major terminal works, upgrades and shutdowns;
  • Prepare, manage and monitor Capital and Fixed cost budgets and expenditures; and
  • Mentor team members and celebrate their successes and contribute to the development of a positive culture.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • a tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline or relevant Trade Certification;
  • a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in hazardous industrial plants, manufacturing or petroleum industry in a similar role;
  • good business and commercial acumen and effective communication skills;
  • sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, industry safety standards; and engineering standards;
  • an understanding of Trade Practices requirements;
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills particularly relating to processing equipment;
  • experience in managing safe operations including exposure to emergency response and capability to manage high pressure situations;
  • the ability to lead, motivate and work collaboratively with others;
  • strong customer focus and self-motivated to identify and implement operational improvements; and
  • the ability to be on call 24/7 and to travel nationally for role coverage if required.
