Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Control Room Technician is responsible for the efficient control of processes related to the flow of milk through the plant.  This must be done with the highest standard of food safety and food quality being the main priority.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $106,000

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Control the operation of HTST’s, UHT and VTIS processing units via a highly technical and integrated control room
  • Maintaining the highest standard on First Pass Quality for multiple pasteurized products
  • Ensuring pasteurized products are delivered to the packaging equipment on time and within specifications
  • Accurate and timely documentation of all requirements under federal and provincial regulations as they apply to the pasteurization of fluid beverages
  • Operate and monitor CIP systems to ensure that all parameters are met (Flow, Temperature, Conductivity, Time)
  • Receiving of bulk chemicals on a regular basis
  • Responsible for loading out loads of bulk cream daily
  • Responsible for cost control of all processes related to milk standardization, utilities, chemical consumption, and waste
  • Ensure 100% compliance as per the DEIM (Dairy Establishment Inspection Manual) processing protocols
  • Support and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.’s quality standards
  • Provide guidance when required to keep the process flowing smoothly

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Possess a B.Sc. in Food Science/Dairy Science or Engineering
  • Previous experience in the food/beverage industry and with GMP, HACCP and BRC programs
  • Previous experience with SCADA or PLC considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of SPC processing and control fundamentals
  • Familiarity with highly advanced and automated process/packaging equipment an asset
  • Must be capable of working a 13-hour day, with flexibility to work afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts as scheduled
  • Must have extensive and proven time management skills
  • Effective multi-tasking, trouble shooting, and problem-solving capabilities required in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills
