The Technical Services Support Technician will play a key role in ensuring our laboratories operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This position supports multiple Technical Services teams by maintaining cleanliness, managing lab inventories, and ensuring all equipment and safety systems are in proper working order. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and committed to supporting a high-performance lab environment.
This role is site-based at our Lansing, Michigan facility and requires hands-on collaboration with laboratory and operations teams.
Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment in line with lab accreditation standards and maintenance schedules.
Monitor and record departmental equipment temperatures to ensure functionality and compliance.
Clean and organize multiple laboratory workspaces and shared areas, ensuring safe, sterile, and well-maintained conditions.
Manage lab inventory, including consumables and safety supplies, ensuring appropriate stock levels.
Order, restock, and replenish general lab supplies such as gloves, wipes, pipette tips, and PPE.
Inspect and maintain emergency showers and eyewash stations to ensure readiness and compliance.
Oversee glassware processes, including stocking, cleaning, sterilization, and proper disposal of broken glass.
Safely handle and remove biohazard waste following proper containment and disposal procedures.
Autoclave and restock pipette boxes and other reusable consumables.
Track expiration dates for consumables and replace items as needed.
Support media and organism preparation for testing, ensuring accuracy in labeling and handling.
Collaborate with Technical Service Managers on additional lab support projects and initiatives as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in science or related field preferred.
Experience in a laboratory support, production, or technical maintenance environment strongly desired.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and good documentation practices.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative lab team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
