Disney Digital Entertainment is looking for a Technical Designer to join us on an ambitious and exciting new project. If you are an imaginative creator with superb game development skills, and have a love of Disney/Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel properties, you’ll want to check out this opportunity! We are building an experienced development team that will help create a groundbreaking game experience that will herald the next generation of Disney to the world. Working with top-class industry talent, this role is perfect for the game developer looking to create something epic - collaborating with a robust group of developers focusing on individual experiences to create a wonderfully rich and cohesive product that is truly “Disney”.

What you will do:

  • Create game tools and features using Unreal Engine, UEFN (Unreal Editor Fortnite), and scripting in Verse in both development and live service environments.
  • Assist in designing, prototyping, and validating various game features.
  • Own gameplay features from design to implementation.
  • Provide support to designers and engineers regarding feature development, performance, and validation.
  • Collaborate with other developers to create and optimize the tools and pipelines used in the project.
  • Review the development process and identify opportunities for tool and process improvements.
  • Review game content to ensure the functionality and technical quality of the features.
  • Collaborate with other developers to analyze, diagnose, and resolve in-game issues.
  • Write, update, and maintain detailed technical documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 years of game development experience, including at least one shipped title.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Unreal or UEFN and an understanding of blueprints or verse scripting.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game development process.
  • Have strong analytical skills.
  • Have the ability to adapt to new situations quickly.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy creative problem-solving and building something new and innovative.
  • Have a special appreciation of Disney’s IP, including characters and lore, linear media and movie franchises, theme park design, and overall aesthetics.
  • Previous experience in a technical role.
  • Experience developing content using UEFN and adept in the use of Verse Scripting with a UEFN project that is live in the Fortnite ecosystem.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Game Design or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.

The hiring range for this remote position is $95,500 to $128,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
