PATH Kenya, through USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto Project, is implementing a five-county-level service delivery project that focuses on the delivery of comprehensive HIV care and treatment services to people living with HIV (PLHIV). It provides critical support to children and adolescents living with HIV at the community level through the orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) component. The project is implemented at the county level, in the community and health facilities in the counties of Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kisumu Nyamira, Vihiga, Migori, and Kisii, in close collaboration with and support of county health management teams, department of children and social services and the Ministry of Health of Kenya.
Job Summary
PATH Kenya, through the USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto Project, seeks to recruit a Technical Advisor – Tuberculosis (TB) who will provide high-level technical leadership, coordination, and oversight for TB and TB/HIV interventions in the USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto. This position will also serve the dual role of the County Focal Person, Vihiga County. The Advisor will work closely with the County Department of Health, NTLD-P, and other county and national implementing partners to strengthen TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. The position will ensure that all project-supported interventions are evidence-based, aligned with county priorities, and contribute to the Department of State and MOH TB control targets.
Job Responsibilities for Technical Advisor role:
Provide technical support and mentorship to county and sub-county health teams for TB and TB/HIV service delivery.
Coordinate planning, implementation, and performance review of TB activities with the CHMT and SCHMTs.
Strengthen integration of TB, HIV, and primary healthcare services.
Support data-driven decision-making through TIBU, DHIS2, and project reporting systems.
Represent the project in county and national TB technical working groups and stakeholder forums.
Promote sustainability of TB interventions through local capacity building and system strengthening.
Carry out any related tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Job Responsibilities for the County Focal Person role:
Provide administrative leadership for the project in Vihiga County.
Serve as the project’s point person with all the relevant departments at the County.
Serve as the performance leader/manager for the technical and administrative project staff in the County.
Represent the project in forums within Vihiga County.
Carry out any related tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Background, Experience & Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in a clinical-related area such as Clinical Medicine, Nursing.
Those with a master’s degree in public health, Epidemiology, or a related field will have an added advantage.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in TB/TB-HIV programming, with 3 years in a technical leadership role within a donor-funded project.
Proven experience working with county health systems and NTLD-P structures.
Proven experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of technical and monitoring/evaluation staff.
Strong data analysis, mentorship, and coordination skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Problem-solving skills and initiative.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Proficiency in Ms Office applications especially MS word and excel.
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
