This role is based in our dynamic Rockville, MD facility, a hub for our transportation and shipping operations. You will be part of a world-class team dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient transport of critical biological materials.
As a Lead Driver/Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will have a pivotal role in advancing our goal of promoting global health, environmental sustainability, and safety. Your contributions will directly assist in meeting our clients' research and operational requirements, guaranteeing the seamless transport of essential specimens and equipment.
Acquire assignments, prepare paperwork, and inspect equipment prior to departure.
Safely transport biological materials, maintaining required temperatures.
Daily supervision and training of other drivers, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safety guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 4-5 years of driving experience in a similar role.
HazMat training and certification required.
Minimum of 6 months employee supervision or management experience.
Valid Commercial driver’s license Class B (CDL B) and a clean driving record.
Experience with routine vehicle maintenance.
To excel in this role, you should be attentive and prioritize safety.
Proven ability to efficiently carry out procedures and cooperate with colleagues will be essential in meeting our standards.
Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
Strong communication skills, both in spoken and written form.
Familiarity with Universal Precautions and general laboratory procedures.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
This position necessitates adapting to diverse environments, such as handling dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, and hazardous materials. The capacity to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs, push loads of up to 100 lbs, and operate in cold settings for prolonged durations is essential. Wearing personal protective gear is obligatory.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $28.56–$42.84.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
