SUMMARY:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Classroom Leadership. Create an environment that supports children's growth and development; meet the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and cultural needs of individual children; use the curriculum to provide weekly plans and objectives which meet individual as well as group needs; establish and achieve annual goals for classroom
  • Safety. Maintain accurate individual records for each child and uses them to set goals for individual children; ensure the safety of the children and promote good health habits
  • Leadership & Communication. Communicate appropriately with families regarding children’s daily activities verbally and written as needed; conference with parents effectively and appropriately; supervise and guides assistant teachers and volunteers and makes appropriate recommendations for performance appraisals
     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool or infant/toddler developmental period.
  • Minimum of one year experience related to caring for children (infants, toddlers, or preschoolers).
  • For school-age programs: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with at least two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or closely related field.
  • Two or more years of experience related to caring for children, including infants and toddlers.
  • Completion of at least 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field with a plan of study leading to a credential or degree.
  • Possession of an Infant/Toddler Child Care and Education or School-Age Child Care credential.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting developmental milestones across multiple age groups (infant, toddler, preschool, and school-age).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
