4Acts as the first point of contact for ratepayers and third parties regarding tax inquiries for tax phone queue
Provides front-line customer service as the first point of contact for ratepayers and third parties with in-person tax inquiries.
Filters and routes incoming calls to the appropriate Assessment staff when inquiries are complex
Serves as the primary point of contact for internal departments—including Risk and Development Financing—requesting tax-related information on property accounts
Handles daily property tax mail, ensuring timely distribution to the appropriate tax staff
Responsible for scanning water charge, accounts receivable charge and returned payment non-sufficient funds letters added to property tax accounts to correspondence on tax system
Scans and uploads returned mail to the appropriate property tax account correspondence within the tax system
Scans and upload in-person preauthorized payment program applications to property tax account correspondence on tax system
Performs data entry of contact information from Preauthorized Payment Program applications into property tax accounts within the tax system
Assists with matching and stuffing supplementary tax bills into envelopes for mailing.
Responsible for ordering office supplies for the tax and assessment staff
Files paper tax rolls received from Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) in roll number order
Assists tax staff in organizing and boxing outgoing year end files for offsite storage
Minimum Requirements:
Certificate/diploma in a post secondary program
One (1) year customer service
Basic experience in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook, Word and Excel
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
Aptitude for figures and detail oriented
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred:
Certificate/diploma in a post secondary program specific to business administration or related field
Three (3) year customer service, Municipal Experience and Property Tax Experience
Knowledge of property taxation and understanding of municipal government and local roles and responsibilities
Annual Salary Range: $49,167 - $61,458 (35 hours/week)
Eligible to participate in the OMERS pension plan
Paid time-off (vacation and incidental time)
9-month contract with a possibility of extension
