Job Description:

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation systems? Parsons is seeking a talented System Integration & Engineering MBSE Engineer to support the FAA in planning, engineering, and evolving the National Airspace System (NAS). In this role, you will facilitate governance and models across all workstreams, including Communication (Telco & Voice), Surveillance, Automation, and Facilities. You will provide modeling support for all Systems Engineering activities, including Configuration Management, Test & Evaluation, Trade Studies, System Optimization, and cybersecurity.

This is your opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that ensure the safety and reliability of airspace operations. If you’re passionate about MBSE, systems integration, and delivering high-quality solutions, we want to hear from you!

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain SysML/UAF models (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw) to capture system context, stakeholder needs, requirements, behaviors (activity, sequence, state), structures (BDD/IBD), interfaces, allocations, and parametric relationships.

  • Facilitate governance across all workstreams (Communication, Surveillance, Automation, and Facilities), including establishing packages, profiles/stereotypes, naming conventions, model validation rules, and branch/merge strategies (e.g., Teamwork Cloud).

  • Provide modeling support for Configuration Management, Test & Evaluation, Trade Studies, System Optimization, and cybersecurity activities.

  • Execute parametric and behavioral simulations; run MBSE-driven trade studies focused on performance, availability, safety, and cybersecurity constraints.

  • Define verification strategies and generate model-based test viewpoints; support requirement verification and validation planning.

  • Trace the digital thread by linking models to requirements (DOORS/Jama), test cases, risks, hazards, and verification evidence; implement OSLC/DataHub integrations.

  • Derive Interface Control Documents (ICDs) from the model; define message sets, data schemas, and performance budgets across NAS interfaces.

  • Develop model-based artifacts aligned to the FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) and Systems Engineering practices; produce content for SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and JRC artifacts.

  • Support hazard analyses (FHA, FTA, FMEA) and safety case inputs in coordination with FAA Safety Management System (SMS) processes.

  • Mentor engineers on MBSE methods; run model reviews and stakeholder walkthroughs using Cameo Collaborator/published views.

  • Collaborate across all workstreams to ensure consistent modeling quality and bidirectional traceability.

  • Generate specifications, SEMP inputs, ADD/AV/OV/SV/UAF views, and ICDs directly from the model using report generators.

    Required Skills/Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

    • 10 years of experience overall. 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience on large, mission-critical systems.

    • 3+ years of hands-on MBSE/SysML modeling experience using tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect, or Capella.

    • Proven delivery of model-based outputs for gated reviews (SRR → CDR) and baseline control/change management.

    • Domain experience in FAA/NAS, NextGen, ATO/AVS programs, or CNS/ATM ground systems.

    • Familiarity with FAA Systems Engineering Manual (SEM), AMS phases (Concept & Requirements, Investment Analysis, Solution Implementation, In-Service Management), and typical JRC evidence.

    • Experience with UAF/DoDAF viewpoints and enterprise modeling; exposure to NAS Enterprise Architecture concepts.

    • Safety/certification context: DO 278A (ground CNS/ATM), awareness of DO 178C/DO 254 (as applicable), and ARP4754A/ARP4761 methods.

    • Toolchain depth: Cameo Systems Modeler (Teamwork Cloud, DataHub, Simulation Toolkit, Report Wizard), Cameo Collaborator, MagicGrid or similar MBSE methods.

    • Model-based testing, simulation, and performance modeling (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink linkage, discrete event or parametric analyses).

    • Exposure to NIST RMF collaboration with cybersecurity teams; knowledge of SWIM, data standards, and service contracts.

    Desired Certifications:

    • INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, OMG certifications (OCUP/OCSMP), or PMI/SAFe credentials.
