Job Title: System Administrator II

Job Location: Bengaluru, India

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Typically requires 3+ years of relative experience in Mainframe Batch & Console operations.

- Knowledge and use of job scheduling software - CA-7 / CA-11 products.

  • Hands-on experience in z/OS environment – MVS, JES2, ISPF, JCL.
  • Fundamental instructions on MVS, JES2, DB2, and CICS.
  • PRE/POST IPL Procedure – Shutdown/Startup sequence for IDMS, DB2, and CICS.
  • Handle console messages, WTOR’s, and resolve contention issues.
  • 2-year technical education beyond high school, equivalent work experience, or a combination of both.
  • Flexibility to work any shift assigned, including weekends and holidays.
  • Capability to work extra hours or different shifts as required, potentially with limited advance notice.
  • Must be reliable, dependable, and flexible to changing shifts.
  • Ability to learn newer technologies in support of the job.
  • Balance multiple simultaneous tasks in dynamic and fast-paced situations, prioritize them accordingly, and react quickly to issues.
  • Ability to follow implicit instructions and "think creatively" when solving issues.
  • Established proactiveness and persistence; adept at working autonomously and seeing projects to the end.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good collaboration skills.
  • Initiative to find opportunities for improvement or add business value.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to other sites if needed (encouraged to be a very low percentage of time).

Strongly preferred but not required:

  • Prior experience in an IT Operations support role.
  • Familiarization with ITIL processes (Event, Incident, Change, Problem, etc.).
  • Experience using ServiceNow or other incident ticket tracking systems.
  • Experience using major telecommunications' vendor’s ticketing systems.
  • Experience using Orion SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog, or other Event Management/Monitoring tools.

UNIX and/or Windows server experience

Entry-level cloud experience.

ITOC staff at Thermo Fisher Scientific manage artifacts for audits and adhere to IT policies.
