In order to support the team " Stress Methods & Optimisation " Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

SW Engineer (m/f/d) Methods and Tools at Airframe COC

About the Team:

We are a transversal team at the Airframe CoC working with different core engineering disciplines at Airbus Defence and Space. Our team is multi-national and located at Manching and at Getafe. We foster a strong collaboration between both sites.

We develop methods for structure analysis and multidisciplinary design optimisation and produce, maintain and enhance related SW and tools. We are an enabler for other engineering disciplines by providing them our SW up to a tool chain according to their needs. Our tools can be applied in all aircraft development phases and are used for certification.

Beyond supporting all our platform developments and in-service activities we significantly contribute to technology projects and publish our results on international conferences enabling the next generation of analysis methods, optimisation tools and aircraft design.

Preparing the future of analysis and optimization increases the need to further ramp up in latest technologies such as numerical optimisation, machine learning & AI which will significantly improve performance of our tools and quality of our results.

What we look for:

We require a skilled SW Engineer with complementary knowledge in aircraft engineering environments. You can be creative and pioneer innovative methodologies for SW development and learn from our existing tools:  

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Contribute to all stages of the software development life cycle for existing tools and new tools
  • Develop, adapt and maintain SW code
  • Create improvement concepts for various in-house SW tools
  • Contribute to establishing agile working methods in general
  • Develop SW by applying SCRUM and support the team with SCRUM tasks
  • Define and develop SW architecture based on user needs
  • Define acceptance criteria and develop automated verification and validation methodologies
  • Interact with different engineering disciplines at various sites
  • Liaise closely with Subcontractors, define work packages for subcontracting, supervise them and monitor execution
  • Consider the application of AI methods in SW development activities 

About You:

  • Master in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or similar
  • 5 - 10 years relevant experience
  • Programming languages C++, Fortran, Python
  • Source code management (we use Git, GitLab, Subversion)
  • Experiences in GUI programming welcome
  • Experienced in building SW architecture
  • Good experience in automated testing and verification, validation of code (CI/CD)
  • Excellent debugging skills and the strong ability to think critically, solve problems and implement practical solutions
  • Strong background in numerical methods
  • Business fluent in English, proficiency in German is desirable
  • You are a team player, communicative and have an independent way of working
