As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will help create a safe and sterile environment for surgical operations and other procedures. Caregivers in this role will be exposed to the latest technologies such as robotic and colorectal surgeries, liver and pancreatic resections offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable medical knowledge through hands-on experience.

A caregiver in this position works from 4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. including rotating weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.  
  • Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.  
  • Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.  
  • Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.  
  • Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.  
  • Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.  
  • Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs. 
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.  
  • Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within new hire period 
  • One year of customer service experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more.
  • Exposure to body fluids.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area.
  • Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
