The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Electrophysiology Division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

The Supplier Quality Engineer I role will provide engineering support for receiving inspection processes and material non-conformances. Drives improvement and corrective action in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Monitors supplier performance to drive supplier corrective action, manufacturing yield issues and field failures.

What You’ll Work On

  • Maintains incoming inspection procedures.
  • Trains inspectors to these procedures.
  • Develops and/or sources inspection tools and equipment.
  • Assists in generating component specifications.
  • Analyzes incoming material defects.
  • Dispositions and drives corrective action as necessary.
  • Communicates issues to suppliers.
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Investigates field failures related to supplier materials.
  • Develop corrective action plan where necessary.
  • Develop long term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
  • Begins developing a network of internal resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Individual influence is typically exerted at the peer level.
  • Completes daily work to meet established schedule with guidance from supervisor on prioritization of tasks.
  • May exercise authority within pre-established limits and approval.
  • Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree within Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 0-2 years of related work experience with a basic understanding of specified functional area.
  • Basic technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Limited understanding of business unit/group function.
  • Will perform this job in a quality system environment.
  • Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Learns to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve routine problems.
  • Works on problems of limited scope. Minimal independent decision making.

The base pay for this position is

$50,000.00 – $100,000.00
