Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, WEAPONS SYSTEMS BRANCH which provides direct shipboard field engineering support of systems and equipment to include Self Defense, Guns, Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) and AEGIS Weapons Systems AEGIS/WEAPONS SYSTEMS BRANCH of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

Major Duties:

  • You will develop and maintain Branch policy and regulatory guidance for accomplishing mission essential responsibilities in a cost effective and timely manner while maintaining the highest level of repair and technical standards.
  • You will develop goals and objectives consistent with near term requirements and long term plans and monitors progress toward achieving these goals and objectives.
  • You will coordinate with managers and officials of other organizations to influence positions and persuade the group to accept a position, concept, or goal when philosophical differences and competing objectives exist.
  • You will present issues or reports to chain of command regarding resources (budget, personnel, equipment) and a variety of repair and technical issues.
  • You will develop Branch training requirements ensuring required future skill sets are developed.
  • You will establish Branch controls ensuring compliance with higher- level directives, maximizing effective use of resources and minimizing the potential of fraud, waste, and abuse.

Qualifications: To qualify for a GS-13, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing direct shipboard field engineering support of systems and equipment to include Self Defense, Guns, Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) and AEGIS at or below the current grade of the position (GS-13 or GS-12). Experience effectively communicating verbally and in writing to establish Branch policies and can lead a technical team of civilians, military and contractor personnel to maintain the highest level of repair and adherence to technical standards and requirements. Experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of NAVSEA Technical Authority Policy Experience in both the technical and business aspects of ship repair and modernization with a good working level knowledge of shipboard system maintenance, design and repair. Experience meeting the physical and security requirements of the position.
