The Civil Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of heavy civil and mining construction projects, ensuring that all work is executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with project specifications and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a deep understanding of civil construction and mining operations to drive successful project delivery.
Champion and enforce safety as the highest priority across all project sites.
Recruit, mentor, and develop craft and field personnel to sustain a skilled, high-performing workforce.
Maintain effective communication with field crews, project engineers, safety teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Oversee and manage construction schedules, coordinating with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
Verify that all work complies with project drawings, specifications, safety standards, and contractual requirements.
Assist with planning and execution of work activities, including manpower allocation, material quantities, equipment utilization, and schedule forecasting.
Track project costs, monitor productivity, and implement cost-control measures to maintain budget compliance.
Identify and proactively address potential project risks, delays, conflicts, or quality issues, collaborating with project management to develop effective solutions.
Lead and manage field crews by setting clear expectations, delegating tasks, and upholding standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Perform additional duties as assigned by project management.
Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including 5+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
Proven background in highway, roadwork, infrastructure, or mining construction projects.
Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, equipment, and field operations.
Proficient in project scheduling, planning, and cost management.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate field crews of 20 or more employees.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies quickly.
Positive attitude with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
Valid driver’s license required.
Travel: Frequent travel to project sites across Arizona; future projects may require nationwide travel.
Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM -3:00 PM, with occasional overtime as required by project demands.
Environment: Work is performed primarily outdoors at active construction sites; must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift materials. Exposure to high noise levels, heavy equipment, and variable weather conditions is expected.
Requirements: Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is mandatory.
