Strategy Consultant for Private Individuals | Global Retail

ING Retail Banking serves more than 39 million customers across 10 countries. The Global Retail organisation is end-to-end responsible for the three retail segments: Private Individuals (PI), Business Banking, and Private Banking & Wealth Management.

The team

You will be part of the Private Individuals Strategy support team, which directly supports the Global Head of Private Individuals in setting the strategy and priorities for the PI segment, and organise execution of these effectively and consistently across our retail markets.

Roles and responsibilities
As a consultant in the PI Strategy support team, you will work on a wide range of projects across the Private Individuals segment (e.g. related to further develop subscription models, scaling consumer lending capabilities, assess insurance partnership options, support developing an affluent segment strategy).

This presents an unique opportunity to develop deep understanding of our Global Private Individuals business at its broadest, work on strategic projects and support delivery of the priorities identified in the Befirst Retail Strategy. You will work closely with the Head of Private Individuals, Retail Banking head-office teams, Global Product communities and Retail countries, and will report to the lead of the PI Strategy support team, who will also be your first sparring partner.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage strategic projects covering multiple countries and/or functions, aligning interests of various stakeholders’;
  • Deliver on the key strategic initiatives for the Private Individuals segment, working closely with global product teams to ensure successful execution;
  • Provide high quality, data-driven information to senior management to track execution and delivery on Private Individuals big bets and drive informed decision making;
  • Act as a linking pin with various business units and central departments, to enable effective and consistent operations;
  • Benchmark and monitor the external Retail Banking environment to attract attention to relevant trends and spot strategic opportunities;
  • Support in ongoing PI business management related activities and strengthen the way of working within the Global Retail organisation.

How to succeed

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact efficiently with senior stakeholders;
  • Sound understanding of key Retail Banking trends and metrics;
  • Experience in local Retail Banking unit is a must;
  • Strong data and analytical skills;
  • Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realizations based on facts and data;
  • Proactive, resourceful and willing to go the extra mile;
  • Strong resilience; ability to navigate through ambiguity;
  • Discretion and high level of confidentiality.

About you

  • You hold a Master’s degree;
  • You have at least 4 years of experience in retail banking, finance, consulting or investment banking;
  • You bring solid experience in executing strategic projects;
  • You possess strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail;
  • You are comfortable working in an Excel and PowerPoint-driven environment;
  • You have experience in preparing management reports and presentations.
