Strategic Defense Lead

Scale is at the forefront of the AI revolution, working across the US government, partners and allies around the world to unlock the potential of generative AI (GenAI). We are seeking a product leader to join our team and play a pivotal role in partnering with the Government to deliver cutting-edge AI capabilities that enhance mission outcomes and national security. We work closely with the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and federal agencies to apply frontier AI technologies responsibly and effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product leadership, software engineering principles practices and deep experience with ML/AI application development, coupled with proven experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholder or AI-related projects within a government.

You will:

  • Ensure mission success for key Mission Partners, resulting in follow-on growth (e.g., expansion of scope / periods of performance).
  • Partner with PM and TPM Leadership to translate mission requirements into technical requirements and support team in communicating Scale capabilities to Mission Partners.
  • Lead Testing and Evaluation workflow and use-case development in collaboration with ENG teams
  • Orchestrate and lead working sessions with our customers to build alignment and prioritize product development.
  • Support product development and prioritization for both program mission areas, refining requirements and iterating with ENG team to deliver highest quality capabilities.
  • Support drafting of mission-focused expert papers on military planning and homeland defence mission areas to enhance Scale perspective in marketplace.
  • Inform an agenda of push-communications to select clients which positions Scale as the GO-TO thought-partner for Agentic solutions in priority mission areas.
  • Build additional communication channels with senior client leads to give Scale sensing function among senior program leadership.
  • Support GTM on capture/growth for contracts related to expertise

Ideally you'd have:

  • Expertise in air and space defense to guide and inform requirements, scoping, and demonstrations.  
  • Specific critical expertise with NNC/NORAD operations to include regional defense sectors with expertise/understanding of the range of threats from cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial systems, etc
  • Experience and relationships required to support the development of operational and technical architectures to drive initial C2 planning with future options across remote sensing, and space-based intercept.
  • Expertise and experience in military planning doctrine, workflows, systems - including modeling and simulation, COA development, evaluation frameworks, etc. 
  • An active TS/SCI clearance

Nice to haves:

  • Previous product development experience for technical/software products into the Federal Government
  • Former U.S. Government Technology Product Management experience, ideally within AI/ML, data, or emerging tech domains
