Schedule: Full-time - 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. with flexibility. Monday – Friday.
The High-Level Disinfection (HLD) Coordinator is responsible for managing the operational and regulatory requirements of all areas performing high-level disinfection and sterilization procedures. This role partners closely with Sterile Processing Department (SPD) leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements from CMS, TJC, and other accrediting agencies.
The selected candidate will oversee departmental practices, staff competency, and physical environments to maintain safe and compliant processes across ChristianaCare Health System. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing evidence-based best practices, identifying training and quality assurance needs, and supporting staff education programs to drive performance, compliance, and systemwide standardization.
Identify and address issues related to high-level disinfection processes, educational gaps, and resource needs.
Develop and recommend solutions to Clinic Managers, Infection Preventionists, and Administrative Director of Sterilization.
Gather and analyze data to inform decision-making processes; provide detailed analysis and recommendations for process improvements.
Conduct regular audits and compliance reviews in all HLD-performing areas.
Facilitate compliance with regulatory standards, including TJC and DPH requirements, through audits and tracer activities.
Evaluate equipment needs and ensure adherence to manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU).
Deliver in-service training and education to medical assistants, sterile technicians, and nursing leadership.
Ensure team members understand and adhere to IFU and high-level disinfection best practices.
Work collaboratively with SPD leadership, Perioperative Services, and key stakeholders.
Coordinate logistics for vendors, support services, and interdepartmental processes related to high-level disinfection.
Create and present reports on quality, compliance, and performance metrics.
Lead special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Facilitate task forces, participate in committee meetings, and support departmental goals.
Associate’s degree in health sciences, surgical technology, health management, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3–4 years of experience in Central Sterilization Processes, Endoscope Reprocessing, High-Level Disinfection, or related healthcare environment.
Demonstrated expertise in project management and staff education.
Intimate knowledge of Sterile Processing policies and best practices (AORN, AAMI, HSPA, SGNA, etc.).
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required upon hire or Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) required within one year.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality system software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to analyze data and present actionable recommendations.
Knowledge of technical systems to enhance operational accuracy and efficiency.

Hourly Pay Range: $23.85 - $35.78This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
