Job Summary:
The Staff Scientist Senior (Pharmacy) will lead the design, implementation, and dissemination of innovative pharmacy program evaluations across Geisinger’s Enterprise Pharmacy. Reporting directly to the System Director of the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes (CPIO), this role will collaborate with pharmacy leaders, investigators, and clinical teams to assess program impact, generate publications, and contribute to national and international recognition of Geisinger’s pharmacy initiatives. The position will serve as a scientific and strategic resource, bridging research, evaluation, and communication.
Job Duties:
- Collaborate with administrative, operational and clinical teams to identify service gaps where evaluations may be needed.
- Conduct literature reviews and gap analyses to inform program design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Develop and maintain evaluation protocols and implementation frameworks.
- Lead and support evaluations of programs, including design, data collection, analysis, and reporting and conduct and collaborate with data analysts and IT teams to extract, clean, and prepare data for analysis.
- Conduct statistical analyses using appropriate software (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, or Python) to assess program outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and impact.
- Apply qualitative methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis) to understand stakeholder perspectives and contextual factors influencing program success and improvement.
- Develop, submit and revise high-quality scientific content including peer-reviewed (and non-peer-reviewed) manuscripts, abstracts for consideration at regional, national and international proceedings, presentations, and reports.
- Develop scientific communications related to programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to grant writing and support external funding efforts.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to learners, including postdoctoral residents and fellows.
- Provide editorial support for manuscripts, proceedings, abstracts, presentations and related publications.

Position Details:
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Doctoral degree (PharmD or PhD) in pharmacy, health economics, public health, health services research, or related field. Fellowship training in related research field preferred.
Skills:
- Strong scientific writing and editorial skills.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience with medical education or communications including mentoring learners and staff.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership in driving initiatives forward.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across interprofessional teams.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency in relevant evaluation software (e.g. NVIVO, SAS, R, Python, TreeAge) Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), EndNote, Tableau, and other data/document sharing platforms.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 15% for program delivery and training.

Doctoral Degree- (Required), Doctoral Degree-Behavioral Science (Preferred)
