Job Title:

Staff Accountant, TRF

Pay Details:

The starting hourly rate range for this position is $30.00 to $36.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing all activities necessary to process payroll for The Rinks and Great Park Ice Payroll. This position involves auditing payroll and time records, processing voluntary and involuntary deductions, and documenting and updating procedures. The Staff Accountant also plays a role in preparing accounting related journal entries and account reconciliations. This position has a commitment to improving processes and providing strong customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely completion of bi-weekly payroll processing for multiple entities

  • Balance and audit payroll data before and after processing to ensure completeness

  • Audit all payroll and time records for accuracy and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including auditing meal breaks and time entry adjustments

  • Process garnishment orders to include accurate calculation, notification, system input and compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely funding of 401(k) submissions to John Hancock

  • Process periodic, quarterly, and annual tax filing integrations and reconciliations between Workday and ADP Smart Compliance

  • Responsible for validating the data integrity between the ABI and Workday integration as well as leading and facilitating payroll partners on the ABI platform

  • Data input and processing for onsite/manual checks, voids, stop payments, direct deposit reversals, and other payroll adjustments

  • Research, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies and inquiries

  • Work closely with Human Resources to ensure accurate data flow to payroll module

  • Collaborate with other team members and management to continuously improve the bi-weekly payroll process to ensure consistency and accuracy

  • Provide support to management, auditors, and legal, as necessary

  • Compile bi-weekly payroll folders that provide the supporting documentation for the payrolls generated for manager approval

  • Responsible for the distribution of W-2 forms and required employee notifications

  • Calculate and process monthly stipend for Hockey Coaches

Accounting

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly accounting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for payroll and other related areas of responsibility

  • Post of G/L entries in accounting software

  • Prepare and provide supporting documentation to auditors

  • Support monthly labor and cost allocations to affiliated entities

  • Perform other accounting duties as needed

Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Possess a strong customer service focus

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Minimum 2 years payroll processing experience (Workday experience a plus)

  • Basic Accounting Experience Required (Journal Entries & Balance Sheet Reconciliations)

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Experience with ABI Mastermind (time management system) is a plus
