Sr. System Engineer

Remote Full Time

Job Summary

The Sr. System Engineer conducts the day-to-day administration and support of various platforms and applications. In this role, the Sr. System Engineer will be responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and performance of on-prem and cloud-based platforms and applications. Additionally, the Sr. System Engineer will review, test, and deploy software and application updates.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide full range of administration and support duties for applications, servers, and platforms.
  • Manage on-prem and cloud server environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Define and update documentation for new and existing applications and systems architectures
  • Define and perform lifecycle maintenance plans for production software and related equipment
  • Work with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines for infrastructure initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance and mentoring to team members to increase skill set and understanding
  • Research, identify, and evaluate new products, equipment, processes and services to support IT efficiency and business growth

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred emphasis in technology, engineering, or math related field) or equivalent experience
  • 4-7 years of experience in administration of systems, applications, and platforms
  • Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services
  • Experience with performance, tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Experience automating, scripting, and streamlining processes

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working within an IT organization in the financial services industry
  • Experience using PowerShell to manage Windows Servers and applications
  • Expertise in managing and troubleshooting servers on a Microsoft Windows network
  • System and Cloud Certification, preferably Azure  
  • Experience in distributed data center model
  • Experience with automated monitoring tools
  • Experience with collaboration software

  • Knowledge of ITIL and Industry best practices
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and business units
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Provide technical expertise on assigned projects and complex issues.
  • Interact and coordinate professionally with vendors, suppliers, distributors and contract consultants
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as develop and mentor employees
  • Strong technical documentation ability
  • Perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Some travel required (less than 5%)
  • After hours and weekends on-call responsibilities (on a rotating basis, shared with other teammates)

  • This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available.
