Location: You will be expected to appear at the Ottawa office located at 40 Hines Rd, Ottawa, ON K2K 2M5, Canada on your start date. You will be expected to appear at the office in person a minimum of 3 days per week.  Any requests for exceptions to this requirement must be submitted in writing to Human Resources and approved by your Manager and Human Resources.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Software Developer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting high-quality software solutions. As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, UX designers, and other engineers, to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and documentation practices.
  • Write non-application code, such as infrastructure as code, unit tests, metrics, monitoring, alarms, etc., to ensure reliability and maintainability.
  • Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as QA, SRE, and product management, to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
  • Take time for learning and continuous improvement, building your skills and exploring interests beyond current work tasks.
  • Own and operate your team's services, respond to business-hours incidents, and participate in blameless post-incident reviews.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend or full-stack development.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python and Go.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex application development, including debugging, analysis, and optimization.
  • Experience with cloud native application development on AWS or Azure.
  • Customer oriented and proactive in helping customers solve their security needs quickly and completely.
  • Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good experience with back-end application development with SQL annd NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Continuous learning mindset, with a passion for keeping up with industry trends and technologies.

For applicants in the province of Ontario, Trend Micro Canada is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary for this role is CAD $105,000.00 - $130,000.00. A candidate’s final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors to include, but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
