Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Quality Engineer – Level 4 to join our team in Aurora, CO.     

The Sr Principal Quality Engineer 4 develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for hardware quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conducts hardware inspection, testing, verification and validation.

  • Implements hardware development and maintenance processes and methods.

  • Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives.

  • Reviews hardware design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements.

  • Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies.

  • Performs or directs verification of hardware capabilities allocations, traceability, and testability.

  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.   

  • Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access

  • AS9100 auditing experience and/or auditor training

  • Knowledge of hardware development methods and systems engineering practices

  • Must have a solid understanding of nonconformance resolution and corrective action implementation including experience developing Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)

  • Familiarity with Requirements Derivation, Traceability, and Management; DOORS or Equivalent Tool Experience and familiarity with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and previous experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical engineering drawings and strong understanding of industry specifications/standards for inspecting electronic and mechanical assemblies.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience supporting Agile and/or DevOps projects.

  • Experience/certification inspecting to IPC-A-610 class 3 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.

  • Experience/certification inspecting to IPC-J-STD-001.

  • Understanding of GD&T practices

  • Experience in Cost Account Management

  • Experience in Supplier/Subcontracts Management

  • Experience with CAMEO Modeler or similar modeling tool

  • Experience in Risk Mitigation

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
