The Sr. Director, Specialty Portfolio provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for McKesson’s generics portfolio, supporting the Specialty Provider (clinic) channel and generic injectables across all other channels via the Passport program. This role is critical in shaping and executing a supply-centered sourcing strategy that drives gross profit growth and reflects an enterprise-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Execution
- Develop molecule-level strategies to ensure supply redundancy and competitive sourcing across channels.
- Manage vendor share expectations and coordinate execution across internal teams.
- Evaluate private label pipeline targets and collaborate on share allocations, pricing, and launch timing.
- Guide commercialization efforts for new products and market entrants.
- Incorporate clinical and customer feedback into portfolio strategy.
- Make strategic decisions balancing competing priorities and driving enterprise value.
Operational Leadership
- Establish and evolve business processes to monitor portfolio health and mitigate risk.
- Implement operational policies and models, including ClarusONE-driven activities.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to support accurate forecasting, inventory management, and buyside operations.
Profit Optimization & Cost Management
- Analyze cost structures of key generic drugs and lead quarterly market reviews.
- Drive business development efforts with manufacturers to optimize cost and maximize gross profit.
- Execute strategic buys and inventory decisions aligned with customer needs.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, including coaching, career development, and succession planning.
- Optimize team structure and functions to meet strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of performance, inclusion, and thought leadership within McKesson and the broader industry.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 13+ years of professional experience, including 6+ years in leadership roles involving planning, communication, and team management.
Critical Skills
- Extensive experience in portfolio management, supply chain, operations, or business development.
- Strong background in pharmaceutical purchasing, distribution, and generic market dynamics.
- B2B experience with pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare organizations.
- Familiarity with specialty clinic operations and generic pharmaceuticals.
- Proficiency in Power BI and Smartsheet.
- Proven leadership in program development, policy creation, and team management.
Additional Skills
- Understanding of McKesson’s business processes is highly desirable.
- Strong business and financial acumen with analytical capabilities.
- Ability to manage complex, sometimes conflicting goals and make sound decisions.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable objectives.
- Skilled in building and influencing relationships in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
