Sr. DataOps Engineer

Utah | Hybrid Full Time

Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

Essential Job Duties

Our data platform engineering team is expanding. We believe data and algorithms can be a bionic arm to do some heavy lifting. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior DataOps Engineer to join our data platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of our data pipelines and systems. You will design, implement, and maintain automated processes to validate data quality, monitor pipelines, and work closely with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to drive trust in our data assets.

You will:

  • Develop and enforce DataOps best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and observability for data workflows.
  • ​​Implement tools and frameworks for data quality, lineage, and governance.
  • Monitor data ingestion and transformation processes, ensuring data is complete, consistent, and accurate
  • Partner with BI and Analytics teams to integrate automated testing into modeling workflows
  • Develop test plans with deep and wide coverage
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues, collaborating with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
  • Build dashboards and reporting tools to track data quality metrics and proactively identify issues
  • Partner with the data governance team to implement automated data quality tests and  ensure compliance with governance and security requirements
  • Continuously improve processes for detecting, tracking, and preventing data anomalies

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data governance, data quality, or related roles
  • Understanding of data lake, lakehouse, and data warehouse systems, applications, infrastructure and related technologies
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance
  • Strong SQL skills with experience analyzing code and validating result sets
  • Proficiency in Python for data validation and automation
  • Ability to leverage AI to accelerate development and testing
  • Experience with data pipeline and test automation tools like DBT
  • Experience with data systems like Databricks, Snowflake, and BigQuery
  • Experience with Git-based team coding workflows

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You 

  • Deep knowledge of SaaS business systems, data domains, and related KPIs
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and code deployment
  • Strong understanding of data modeling methodologies
  • Understanding of test automation related to semantic layers and metrics stores
  • Experience with AI and NLP and best practices for quality assurance and benchmarking
