Sr Claims Analyst

Horace Mann is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Claims Analyst to join our team. This role is responsible for creating, analyzing, and interpreting claims data to identify trends, quality opportunities, and areas for operational improvement. The Sr. Claims Analyst will serve as a trusted expert and resource across claims providing insight, driving process improvements, and supporting adherence to best practices.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of claims processes, exceptional technical acumen, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all activities related to the creation, development, and analysis of claims data and reports to identify trends, quality issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with management to recommend and implement process improvements that enhance claims accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist claims staff in applying and maintaining best claims practices across all lines of business.
  • Lead or participate in quality reviews, project management efforts, and process optimization initiatives to support all claims offices.
  • Collaborate with other Analysts to ensure cross-functional alignment and data consistency across projects.
  • Prepare and present detailed analytical reports and trend analyses to senior leadership.
  • Recommend training needs and areas of focus to enhance claims performance and quality.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of claims systems, telephony platforms, and analytical tools to optimize workflow and reporting.
  • Handle complex claims reports, projects, and ad hoc data requests with precision and timeliness.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in specific claims areas—providing guidance and acting as a key resource for the team.
  • Proactively communicate insights, findings, and recommendations that drive operational excellence and Distinctive Service delivery.
  • Lead and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements, upgrades, and new feature implementations - ensuring all claims processes function as designed and meet operational and business requirements.
  • Monitor and address daily production issues within ClaimCenter, collaborating with IT, business partners, and claims leadership to identify root causes, implement timely resolutions, and minimize business disruption.
  • Contribute to the resolution of ClaimCenter defects and enhancements by analyzing reported issues, validating fixes, and recommending process or configuration improvements to strengthen system performance and user experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 8–10 years of experience in claims operations, analysis, or related insurance functions.
  • Proven expertise in claims data analytics, reporting, and trend identification.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver actionable insights.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with analytical software, claims management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing materials and presenting to senior leaders.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence positive change.
  • Normal office environment.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Salary Range: 

          $71,500.00-$105,400.00 annually 

Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
