Job Description

The Senior Associate Athletics Director will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing a wide range of contracts for the Athletics Department. These include agreements related to name, image, and likeness (NIL) licensing, revenue-generating opportunities, game and contest arrangements, sponsorships, licensing, software and procurement, concert and venue usage, and other commercial partnerships. This role plays a critical part in shaping departmental strategy, particularly in relation to the benefits cap introduced by the House settlement.

Reporting directly to the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and the Deputy Athletic Director, the Senior Associate Athletics Director will collaborate closely with the Office of General Counsel, athletics leadership, head coaches, the Athletics Business Office, Office of Compliance, Trademark & Licensing, Business Advancement, and approved consultants. The position ensures that all contractual agreements align with strategic goals and comply with legal, board, and regulatory standards. It also oversees the assignment and distribution of institutional benefits to student-athletes under the House settlement, evaluates contract risks, and implements mitigation strategies. This role leads large scope projects involving multiple areas of the department creating long term impact in an ever-changing landscape.  This role will provide consultation to senior leadership within the department on contract creation and implementation.

The role requires the development and enforcement of contract management policies, maintaining comprehensive records, implementing a contract management system, and providing training and guidance to internal staff. Legal support will be facilitated both internally and through external counsel as needed. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.  Advanced degree in relevant field may be required. 8 years of relevant experience required. 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Law, or Sport Management.  Advanced degree in relevant field or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.  8 years of relevant experience required. 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred. Extensive experience working with contracts, preferably in Athletics or similar industry.  Experience working with NCAA rules and regulations, familiarity with Name, Image and Likeness agreements and an understanding of licensing agreements.  Candidate will have experience with negotiations and legal and regulatory knowledge.  Candidate will posses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
