A Sr. Administrative Assistant position is available with the City of Fort Worth Emergency Management & Communications Department Emergency Communication Center Division.

Emergency Management & Communications provides the coordination of disaster and emergency response efforts, 911 access, and collaboration among first responders and public safety partners. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, human resources, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative and fiscal management experience in support of a department, division, or major service area.
  • One (1) year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in managing complex administrative tasks, such as timekeeping, payroll, employee records management, purchasing, procurement and contract management.

The Sr. Administrative Assistant job responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for fiscal operations, including budget development and expenditure monitoring, to ensure responsible stewardship of public resources.
  • Facilitate support functions, such as timekeeping, payroll, and employee records management, to support a resilient workforce.
  • Coordinating procurement workflows, facilitating purchasing and procurement for supplies and materials, ensuring vendor compliance with established purchasing regulations and policy, and coordinating travel and training arrangements. 
  • Responding to requests for information, including inquiries from the leadership team, employees, and the public.
  • Contributing to organizational effectiveness by identifying opportunities for process improvement, supporting department-wide initiatives, and enhancing interdepartmental and interagency collaboration.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
