As a Software Engineer embedded within our Informatics team in Warsaw, you will play a key role in building custom applications that accelerate and scale Moderna’s scientific and business operations. This individual contributor role is deeply hands-on and highly collaborative, working alongside product owners, engineers, and end users to rapidly deliver transformative tools. You will design, develop, deploy, and maintain full stack software solutions using cutting-edge frameworks, with a strong emphasis on agile methodologies and cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll help automate lab and business workflows, integrate directly with scientific instrumentation, and play a vital role in digitally enabling the next generation of mRNA technology development. Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Partnering closely with product owners and users to understand scientific and business requirements
Designing and delivering full-stack web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as Angular or React on the frontend
Building and maintaining robust backend systems using Node.js, Express.js, or Nest.js and FastAPI (Python 3.11+)
Deploying containerized applications to AWS using Docker
Developing intuitive and innovative software tools that streamline and automate complex workflows
Enabling seamless integration between software applications and laboratory instrumentation
Your responsibilities will also include:
Working within a highly agile, fast-paced development cycle to ship impactful features quickly
Contributing to multiple high-velocity projects concurrently
Maintaining software quality through team-based development, testing, and documentation
Collaborating across technical and scientific functions to ensure alignment with evolving user needs
Staying current with emerging software and cloud technologies relevant to Moderna’s platform

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Experience working in Life Sciences, pharma/biotech, or related scientific field preferred
Experience in full stack web application development. Angular 18+ preferred
Familiarity with SQL and modeling relational databases. PostgreSQL experience preferred
Understanding of web user interface design using HTML, CSS, and Modern JavaScript/TypeScript libraries
Experience using / designing web services and REST APIs
Familiarity with software development best practices: agile, unit/integration testing, Git
Strong communication skills, ability to work directly with users to understand requirements
Familiarly with Docker and AWS technologies like EC2, S3, SQS, etc.
