Job Summary: Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for proactively managing their caseloads. Works with a wide range of inmates of varied ages, medical and mental health needs and security levels. Responsible for providing medical and mental health release planning, social work assessments and evaluations, treatment activities, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups, as allowed by license and with clinical supervision. Serves on and participates in specialized mental health and medical services committees and panels as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including Care Coordination and Reentry team, Risk Assessment Panels and Reduction in Sentence committees. Works closely with a wide variety of individuals and agencies such as attorneys, Federal Probation Officers, physicians/hospital personnel, child welfare agencies, Social Security Administration and Veterans Affairs. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications: To be considered for the position, you must meet the following: Basic Requirements: Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GL-09. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
