POSITION SUMMARY
Steamboat Ski Resort is hiring for a coveted Social Media Specialist position. We’re looking for candidates who love the outdoors as much as we do, appreciate deep Champagne Powder® snow dumps and want to share the magic of Steamboat and shout these stories from the mountaintops. The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, on top of industry trends, an experienced skier or rider, extroverted and ready to engage with staff, guests and online audiences, and passionate about living the Steamboat Dream. The Social Media Specialist plays a vital role in communicating the resorts operational, brand and community messaging by working closely with all departments, and the right candidate understands the resort brand and voice but isn’t afraid to be an industry leader. This job is based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and does require being onsite. While the resort is open, this role will work Tuesday – Saturday and will require early hour attention during storms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage resort brand awareness online
Develop and coordinate social media strategy; planning, writing, and publishing on all social media platforms
Coordinate content creation efforts by developing high-quality, social-first content tailored to various social media platforms, ensuring alignment with Steamboat’s brand voice, marketing objectives and business unit needs
Must be ready to work sixth and seventh day of the work week and early and late shifts when necessary and attend Steamboat hosted events, conferences, and summits
Align paid and organic social content, ensuring brand voice and messaging is executed
Become an industry expert in all social media trends, outdoor industry/ski industry social media and content ideas to provide feedback and influence social outcomes
Identify ROI opportunities for social media and support resort strategies to drive online revenue/advance purchase
Coordinate and oversee content crew team members to produce, label, upload and utilize high quality photo, video, written pieces for social media and web channels to track deliverables for reporting and managing purposes
Create and update resort social media brand guidelines, media playbooks and develop influencer/brand advocate directory
Coordinate with Athlete manager to capitalize on Olympians/resort athletes as online ambassadors
Coordinate with guest service teams while monitoring social media inboxes and public pages to provide high touch, on-brand customer service responses and share insights with management to create a more positive guest experience
Assess guest experience to understand trending conversations, including but not limited to high volume feedback during key sales and operational periods, identify negative trends impacting guest services
Compile trend and social channel performance reports to evaluate content that resonates with our audiences and aligns with our brand and strategy. Compile campaign resorting as needed with insights around department and resort KPIs and potential ROI
Assist on influencer/brand advocate hosting responsibilities including identifying/pitching hosting opportunities, responding to hosting requests, working with contracts for hosting opportunities, planning, and finalizing hosting itineraries, onsite hosting duties and follow up reporting (including identifying ROI opportunities)
Collaborate with Alterra Mountain Company to create social channel audits in relation to overall performance, compliance with AMC partner contracts and Ikon. Become familiar with Ikon brand guidelines
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Paid experience within social media, communications, content management required
Degree in Digital Communications, Social Media, and/or Communications preferred
Ability to manage different personalities and expectations of SSRC departments and staff, influencers and guests
Skill to creatively share the Steamboat Dream via social platforms
Knowledge of social tracking and auditing required
Proficiency in key social platforms (including but not limited to) Sprout Social, Airtable, ClickUp, Adobe Analytics, CapCut, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
Proficiency in editing tools, Adobe Suite, Basic Photoshop and InDesign skills preferred
Ability to keep cool during crisis situations, critical timeframes and fast-changing situations
Flexibility to work outside traditional business hours (including evenings, weekends and holidays)
Creative writing, photography and videography experience preferred
Skiing/Riding at minimum of intermediate level required
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
Drive to produce creative, innovative and interesting content
2 years of previous work history/education required
Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards
Must have valid driver’s license without limitations or restrictions and meet company’s insurability standards
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED equivalent
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.
Steamboat area base hourly pay range: $24.00- $28.00 per hour
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age
Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
Must be able to ski and ride at an intermediate ability or above
Able to work in a variety of conditions, including outdoor and variable weather
Must be able to carry video/photo equipment up to approx.. 30 pounds while skiing and riding
