ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Smart Building Consultant – Program Manager to guide organizations through the planning, design, and implementation of advanced building technologies across healthcare, science & technology, and other complex environments.
This role focuses on advising clients on strategy, integration, and execution of smart building and digital infrastructure initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, user experience, safety, and overall facility performance. The consultant serves as a trusted advisor—bridging operations, technology, and organizational change management—to drive innovation that improves human experience, building intelligence, and long-term adaptability.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
Strategic Advisory & Leadership
- Provide strategic consulting to executive and operational stakeholders on developing and executing smart building and digital infrastructure strategies.
- Define vision, outcomes, and measurable objectives (OKRs/KPIs) for technology-enabled environments across multiple markets.
- Offer thought leadership on how advanced technologies can enhance workflows, safety, productivity, occupant well-being, and operational resilience.
Program & Project Oversight
- Advise clients on program structures, scope development, schedules, and budgets for integrated technology initiatives.
- Guide organizations in applying best practices in project delivery, governance, and performance measurement.
- Support alignment across operations, facilities, IT, and user groups to ensure the success of major capital and technology investments.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multi-system IT and building technology programs for smart facilities and campuses.
Technology & Systems Integration
- Evaluate, recommend, and plan the integration of enterprise IT, smart building, and specialized systems (e.g., lab, clinical, or workplace technologies).
- Ensure interoperability across operational, specialty, and facility systems, creating a cohesive ecosystem that enhances efficiency, outcomes, and user satisfaction.
- Balance innovation with risk, cost, scalability, and lifecycle support considerations.
Stakeholder & Change Management
- Facilitate collaboration with diverse stakeholders—including operators, scientists, clinicians, IT, and administrative leaders—to translate needs into actionable requirements.
- Support organizational change management by helping clients adapt processes and workflows to leverage new technologies.
- Lead workshops and design sessions to align stakeholders around outcomes-driven and data-informed solutions.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Advise clients on vendor selection, contracting strategies, and performance management for smart building systems and digital platforms.
- Conduct capability assessments of vendors, ensuring alignment with client objectives and enterprise standards.
- Act as an independent advocate for the client in vendor evaluations, negotiations, and scope coordination.
- Assist with vendor management.
Regulatory, Security & Compliance
- Provide guidance on data privacy, cybersecurity, and industry-specific compliance (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, GLP, or other applicable standards).
- Help clients implement robust governance and cybersecurity frameworks to safeguard sensitive data and connected systems.
Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing project delivery team
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive project environment
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay current with emerging smart building, IoT, and data integration technologies.
- Translate industry trends into actionable strategies for clients.
- Support clients in developing long-term innovation roadmaps.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP, Lean Six Sigma) preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in program management, technology consulting, or smart building systems integration.
- Proven experience advising healthcare, science & technology, or complex institutional organizations on technology programs that improve operations, efficiency, and user experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, cross-disciplinary technology programs in complex or regulated environments.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.

- Deep knowledge of building systems integration, digital infrastructure, and enterprise technologies.

The salary range for this position is $122,400 to $153,000 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.
