Job Description:

The Senior Writer, Executive Communications plays a key role developing and delivering executive communications for the CEO. This role brings a diverse skill set, combining excellent writing capabilities, experience driving compelling thought leadership, speeches and editorial content, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and relationships, advise senior leaders, and an understanding of the Bank's strategic priorities.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate and Executive Communications in CAPA, the Senior Writer will play a large role in shaping internal and external communications from the US CEO. This role requires a strong strategic thinker who understands how to clearly convey business priorities with clarity and precision. The Senior Writer will have experience working with C-suite leaders, including how to capture executive voice and inspire and motivate audiences. The Senior Writer should bring excellent writing and editing skills, strategic thinking, and proven expertise in internal communications and thought leadership.

Depth & Scope:

  • Crafts major addresses and speeches for the CEO, as well as other priorities communications such as presentations, colleague messages, video remarks and briefings

  • Collaborates closely with partners and stakeholders to shape content for engagements, research and develop remarks, briefings, and content for these events

  • Effectively builds and manages relationships and provide advice to partners and senior leaders

  • Supports end-to-end research, writing and production of thought leadership content, collaborating with leaders, subject matter experts, and teams across CAPA and the Bank to produce content that captures our strategy and demonstrates leadership on issues that matter to our clients, colleagues, and the communities we serve

  • Ensures strong collaboration with teams across Corporate and Public Affairs leading CEO content, program management, and events, working with specialists to drive content amplification, produce reporting to measure communications program outcomes, and embed data and insights into communications recommendations

  • Oversees direct reports and peers supporting the development of the above content, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and voice

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications/journalism certification, designations, or equivalent required

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, or agency environment, or comparable strategy experience

  • Exceptional writing skills, with a passion for storytelling and creating both long and short form content that conveys a clear and relevant message and effectively captures tone and voice

  • An ability to produce a variety of high-quality compelling content on deadlines

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative executive communications, with a point of view on how to leverage executive voice to drive business objectives

  • Strong interest in news and broader issues and trends, combined with understanding of the financial services sector and the ability to apply to communications strategy

  • Excellent judgment and proven experience providing communications advice and counsel to senior executive leaders 

  • Proven ability to navigate in a complex or ambiguous environment, managing multiple high-priority projects or deliverables

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's and/or higher Degree in Journalism or Communications or related discipline

  • Financial Services with proven track record in working firsthand with C-suite executives from Fortune 100 companies

  • Strong track record in building trusted relationships with peers, partners and senior leaders across a complex, highly-matrixed organization

  • Exceptional partner and storyteller able to craft impactful executive communications across all channels and platforms

  • Experienced in building and maintaining media/social networks including journalists and influencers, touching industry and communities across expanded markets

  • A curious best-in-class listener, one who invests the time to learn as much on a topic as the person conveying it
