Senior Transversals Engineer

Rolls-Royce has an exciting secondment opportunity working as a Senior Transversals Engineer for the Submarines Production Alliance.  The team will be based in Derby but will require travel for 1 week per month.

The successful candidate will be embedded into the platform team working directly for the Chief Engineer.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for transversal areas including control of whole boat hazards and control damage hazards, airborne noise, external operating environment, internal operating environment, design life, shock, externally generated vibration, materials, coatings and corrosion and containment.
  • Requirement setting and design control and steering. Integration and influencing individual system designs from the transversals perspective.
  • Develop and implement ways of working across the JDA to manage transversals related risks and achieve good platform performance outcomes with regards to transversals.
  • Exercise Joint Design Authority responsibilities as a Safety Delegated Engineer to steer, control and assure the platform design integration.

  • Ideally a candidate would be at least an Incorporated Engineer or equivalent, chartered is desirable. Any relevant Engineering discipline can be considered including materials, structures, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, Naval Architecture.
  • Experience in relevent domain is preferred but not essential
  • Good communication, presentation skills and an ability to work in a multidiscplinary environment
