Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer for Warehouse Management and Fulfillment will use technical knowledge to evaluate, recommend and build Business Solutions delivered via application programming, SQL Reporting, Modular Software Packages and Systems Integration. These solutions may be developed in-house or acquired through a 3rd Party. The role requires use of modern software development methodologies and programming languages such as Java, C++, C #, SQL, JavaScript, Perl and others to introduce new software solutions and/or integrate existing/new software packages into the enterprise.  

A day in the life…

  • Collaborate independently with Business users, analysts and systems integration & development engineers to understand why an application, system or solution is needed and how it must function - then design, develop, maintain and support those IT Solutions, particularly in the process areas of warehouse management and order fulfillment.
  • Build and Maintain system specifications, architecture diagrams and flow charts, which detail programming logic, decision trees/branching and data architecture.
  • Provide user support (IT and Business Users), including initial training and help desk assistance.
  • Independently analyze and resolve problems associated with existing Business Application Systems. Detect, diagnose, and reports all system related problems as necessary.
  • Work with Technology Solutions counterparts to ensure system performance, compatibility, bugs and user reported issues and defects are being captured and analyzed.
  • Assume a lead role in training junior developers, associates and analysts on key business processes and applications.
  • Review, modify and improve Business Applications through coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Manage the development lifecycle of SQL Based Business Reports and Dashboards as per the requirements defined by business users and business analysts.
  • Manage the development lifecycle, execution and maintenance of thorough test plans/test scripts and test cases designed to identify issues, defects and deviations from user specifications in applications and solutions.
  • Ensure that all applications developed and deployed meet minimum requirements for regulatory compliance such as PCI and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Ensure that systems integration and development staff and programming operations are properly trained on all Lilly Pulitzer Change Management and Systems Development Life-Cycle practices, policies and methodologies.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Perform development on the Manhattan Integration Framework.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert with regard to the warehouse management system.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert with regard to enterprise order management.
  • Maintain cross-system functional knowledge for all consumer and wholesale orders from order placement through invoicing/settlement.
  • Note, associates may be asked to perform duties that are outside the specific functions that are listed.

Qualifications for the Position

  • A four-year college degree is required, preferably with a major/minor in Software Engineering, or within a related Technology, Engineering or Operations discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture and Web Services with at least 10 years of prior experience developing and/or supporting production systems using these technologies, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
  • A solid understanding of XML Language, Schemas, SOAP and UDDI
  • Prior experience within J2EE Framework, Java Programming and Java Application Server Architecture
  • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) Framework and Apple Developer Toolkit
  • Knowledge of Apple and Android SDK’s for building mobile applications
  • Past work experience with traditional web development practices and languages (Scripting, Server-Side and Client Side Development)
  • Understanding of Web Tiered Architecture (Client, Application and Database)
  • Understanding of common Messaging protocols (JMS, JDBC, ODBC, QManager etc…)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with SQL Database Design and Management (ETL is a big Plus)
  • Exposure to Linux Operating Systems & Utilities
  • Exposure to Windows Server Operating System and Utilities
  • Exposure to system development methodologies such as RAD, Agile & WF
  • Exposure to procedural and object-oriented programming languages
  • Exposure to the software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP a plus

  • This position is classified as full-time salaried; it is exempt and is not eligible for overtime.  This position is eligible for standard company benefits.
  • This position is required to maintain a structured hybrid work schedule based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. This hybrid schedule, which includes work done in the King of Prussia Office as well as your Home Office will be determined by your supervisor.
  • The position requires some domestic travel.
  • Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods.
