Position Title:    Senior Systems Analyst

Job Description:

As a member of the trading technology team, contribute analysis to the design, development, and testing of Wellington’s mission-critical trading application. Work in a team to provide technology solutions to the firm’s trading professionals, pursuing projects from idea generation and prototyping to validation and production roll out. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Partners with Wellington Equity, Fixed Income and Currency traders, trading business teams and business analysts to define and develop requirements for order management systems (OMS) workflows and other auxiliary trading applications
  • Work on prioritizing enhancement requests, bug fixes based on criticality and loop back to business users to provide progress updates
  • Act as primary interface for different trading vendors and brokers/dealers acting as a proxy for Wellington users of the vendor system to provide feedback and recommendations on usability and available features
  • Collaborate with software developers, database architects, vendors, and other IT and business teams to analyze and determine functional specifications, participate in architecture, design sessions and reviews for new applications and enhancements to existing applications
  • Create documentation for new requirements, software defects with appropriate details and reproducibility steps in Atlassian’s JIRA tool used for issue tracking and project management
  • Create the quality certification strategy and plan to ensure that workflows for internal and vendor systems are tested as per the functional requirements
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to engineering team based on User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with traders on usability and functionality
  • Work with Project Managers on planning activities for projects including work estimation, capacity management, status reporting, issue tracking, production roll out and release planning, and planning support-team readiness
  • Participate in Agile practices including Phased Increment (PI), Sprint and Release retrospectives to review standards, methods and procedures important to determine product quality and release readiness
  • Conduct weekly touchpoint calls with support-team members to evaluate, diagnose and prioritize newly reported issues and identify possible solutions
  • Work across various IT teams to coordinate and facilitate cross-functional projects that require modifications to trading applications
  • Responsible for planning application releases and user training for new functionalities being rolled out to the business users
  • Facilitate resolution of production issues by working with appropriate teams to research problems, track progress and determine and document solutions.

Position is fixed location based in Boston office; however, telecommuting from a home office location may also be allowed.

Job Requirements:

Requires Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, Finance or a directly related field plus two (2) years business analysis or systems analysis experience in trading, investment management or financial services environment. Experience must include:

Must have two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Interacting and collaborating with Equity, Fixed Income traders and/or portfolio managers
  • Technology implementation and delivery projects on buy-side order management system (OMS), including Fidessa, Latent Zero, Charles River, or Aladdin
  • Functional analysis, application design and data modelling skills in the context of high-performance, mission critical buy-side trading applications.
  • Experience using Bloomberg, FX Connect, Market Axess, and TradeWeb
  • SQL query skills and experience with Oracle/SQL Server rational databases and tools
  • Experience with equity, fixed income, derivative, and currency trading markets, practices, instruments and analytics
  • Trading order management systems and electronic trading (FIX protocol), including industry interfaces and API’s
  • Defect tracking systems including JIRA, Test Director and open-source test case management tools

Will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) plus five (5) years business analysis or systems analysis experience in trading, investment management or financial services environment in lieu of a Master’s degree plus two (2) years of experience.

40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Salary: $147,000 - $185,000/year.
