About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Surveillance Engineering Manager to lead the modernization of trade surveillance platforms across asset classes including equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on technical leadership to deliver scalable, regulator-ready solutions that support Market Conduct and Compliance functions.
In this role, you will:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of engineering managers and experienced engineers in specialized domain areas, in roles with moderate complexity and risk responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
- Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
- Define and execute Wells Fargo’s surveillance technology strategy in alignment with compliance and supervisory mandates.
- Partner with Compliance, Surveillance, and Front Office stakeholders to deliver scalable, automated, and regulator-ready solutions.
- Lead a global team of engineers and data analysts to design, build, and enhance surveillance platforms across multiple asset classes.
- Improve alert quality and detection logic using machine learning and modern data engineering.
- Ensure data governance and accuracy across surveillance ecosystems.
- Oversee platform scalability and integration with vendor/in-house systems (e.g., Actimize, Protegent Trade Compliance, Nasdaq SMARTS, TradingHub).
- Champion Agile and DevOps practices, fostering a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
- Promote a growth mindset across the team—encouraging curiosity, learning from setbacks, and embracing change as a catalyst for innovation.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources, including hiring, mentoring, and career development of specialized engineering talent.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 6+ years of experience in Surveillance, Compliance, Front Office Technology
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven track record in leading large-scale technology transformations and regulatory programs
- Strong technical expertise in software engineering, data architecture, and control frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across matrixed and multicultural environments
- Experience with specialty software engineering in surveillance domains and capital markets
- Demonstrated ability to foster a growth-oriented culture that values feedback, learning, and continuous improvement
- Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate required; Graduate degree preferred
- Strong understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
