Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform semiconductor engineering research, design, development, and testing for firm products and devices in conjunction with product development for the electronic communications industry.
  • Work as part of the GPU Architecture, Competitive Analysis and PPA team, driving the modeling, analysis, and debug of features for a highly efficient mobile GPU.
  • Work closely with the architecture, Software, and design teams to understand the architecture and micro-architecture of the GPU and its units and to triage and fix performance-related issues.
  • Develop complex GPU performance models to help define micro-architectural features and implementation optimizations of next-generation GPUs.
  • Identify important graphics and compute workloads for developing benchmarks used to analyze and validate our GPU's performance targets.
  • Develop tools and methodology to correlate and validate performance models for performance tracking and projection.
  • Identify architecture, micro-architecture, and implementation optimizations to improve the performance of the GPU and its units.
  • Analyze the benchmarks' performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions.
  • May work from home on a hybrid schedule from a commutable distance to the San Diego office.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field and plus Eight (8) years of experience in a related occupation working with the following: developing performance models, analysis, and debug for a mobile GPU; GPU/computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts; graphics benchmarks and GPU micro-architecture benchmarking; programming and scripting languages including Python; power/performance trade-offs; VLSI concepts and HW design; GPU and Graphics Pipelines; GPU micro architecture and GPU compiler.

Alternate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field plus ten (10) years of experience in a related occupation working with the following: developing performance models, analysis, and debug for a mobile GPU; GPU/computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts; graphics benchmarks and GPU micro-architecture benchmarking; programming and scripting languages including Python; power/performance trade-offs; VLSI concepts and HW design; GPU and Graphics Pipelines; GPU micro architecture and GPU compiler.

Total Rewards

At Samsung – SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $245,000.00 - $297,200.00. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. This is an exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
