Position Summary...

Join a dynamic engineering team focused on enhancing the Seller Experience and driving the growth of Walmart's Marketplace and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide inputs on project plan; and providing updates to the project team. You will be more responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable full stack applications, including user interfaces, backend services, data pipelines, and AI/ML integrations.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and contribute to medium- to large-scale engineering projects, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Architect, design, and implement full stack applications using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies.
  • Develop robust backend APIs and microservices with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
  • Build and optimize real-time and batch data pipelines to support logistics and operational workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with Walmart’s Solution Security Plan (SSP), data governance, and regulatory standards. Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring for production-grade deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software engineering, DevOps, and secure coding.
  • Drive innovation by contributing to platform improvements, such as the Atlas Receiving system and FLIB Score Engine.

What You'll Bring
  • Over 6 years of experience building large-scale distributed systems, with a strong foundation in system design and backend development.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, with hands-on experience in event-driven systems.
  • Familiarity with modern tech stack including React JS, Kafka, Cosmos DB, and cloud platforms like Azure and GCP.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and implementing CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and message queues (Kafka, Azure Service Bus).
  • Exposure to unit testing frameworks (Junit, Jest) and code quality tools like Sonar.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, mentor peers, and contribute to core application components.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
  • Growth mindset with a willingness to learn emerging technologies including AI, Gen AI, and agentic systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multi-team environments.
  • Demonstrated impact through measurable improvements in operational efficiency and system reliability.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
