Internal Job Title: Senior Scientist I
Location: Cambridge, MA

This position will be located at Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Novartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role.

We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist I to join our growing xRNA therapeutics team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will help support the establishment of the new oligonucleotide synthesis laboratory.


 

Job Description

  • Synthesize, purify, and characterize therapeutic oligonucleotides using automated oligonucleotide synthesizers such as Shasta, K&A, or Mermade
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for synthesis, processing, and purification of therapeutic oligonucleotides to ensure reproducibility.
  •  Design and synthesize novel nucleoside phosphoramidites for incorporation into therapeutic oligonucleotides

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 5+ years’ experience in nucleoside & oligonucleotide synthesis, purification and characterization
  • Familiarity with using automated SPOS for therapeutic oligonucleotide synthesis
  • Proficiency with purifying, analyzing and characterizing therapeutic oligonucleotides via LC/HRMS, RP-HPLC, AEX-HPLC, SEC-HPLC and UV-vis analytics.
  • Basic understanding of RNA therapeutics and their role in biology
  • Be a team player prepared to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

The salary for this position is expected to range between $89,600 and $166,400 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
