PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Senior Quality Engineer acts as a key leader and mentor within the Quality Assurance team, responsible for driving all quality initiatives and ensuring compliance for Ebara Elliott Energy's rotating machinery product lines. This role provides critical, hands-on leadership by leading technical specification reviews to ensure all customer requirements are clearly understood and met. Furthermore, the Senior Quality Engineer drives formal problem-solving (RCA/8D) to resolve complex issues. They also provide guidance to other Quality Engineers, ensuring teamwide success in project execution.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES
Lead formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 8D problem-solving teams to investigate complex quality issues and prevent their recurrence.
Proactively identify, investigate, and drive the resolution of quality issues discovered during internal audits, Non-Conformance Report (NCR) analysis, and factory walkdowns.
Independently analyze Non-Conformance Report (NCR) data to identify adverse trends, systemic risks, and opportunities for proactive investigation and continuous improvement.
Perform technical quality reviews of customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to identify and specify necessary comments, exceptions or clarifications.
Provide critical input for customer quotations by assessing the cost and lead time impacts of specific quality, inspection, and testing requirements.
Represent Ebara Elliott Energy’s quality interests in pre-contract meetings, effectively communicating and negotiating exceptions with customers through clear technical and logical reasoning.
Represent Ebara Elliott Energy at Pre-Inspection Meetings (PIMs) to establish, confirm, and coordinate all inspection and testing requirements before production.
Develop and implement comprehensive Quality Plans (e.g., Inspection and Test Plans) for complex, non-standard and highly-engineered products.
Arrange for customers to witness inspections and tests per contract requirements.
Resolve customer complaints/concerns resulting from witnessed inspections and testing of Ebara Elliott Energy products.
Plan, write, and issue procedures or work instructions to meet the requirements of quality initiatives and Ebara Elliott Energy’s internal processes.
Act as the lead Quality Engineer for the Quality Assurance team, providing assistance and mentoring to other Quality Engineers while also directly supervising up to 3 Quality Technicians.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on designing quality into products.
This role requires frequent contact with engineers and managers across all Ebara Elliott Energy departments, hourly employees, customers, and suppliers to review quality requirements and resolve related problems.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
A Master’s degree in engineering or industrial technology, a CQE certification, and 10+ years of manufacturing quality assurance or other equivalent work experience is preferred.
Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial technology, two recognized quality certifications, and 13+ years of manufacturing quality assurance or other equivalent work experience is also accepted.
Relevant Quality certifications include CQE, ASQCQE, CQA, CQM, CRE, Six Sigma Black Belt, and NDE Level III.
Demonstrated experience resolving complex technical and quality issues using formal problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, 8D, DMAIC).
Advanced understanding of quality engineering principles and manufacturing processes, with demonstrated expertise in various inspection methods, standard measuring tools, and non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures.
Solid technical understanding of Ebara Elliott Energy product lines, including all standard inspections and tests performed.
In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, such as the ASME code, American Petroleum Institute (API) standards, ASNT, and ISO 9001.
Strong written and oral English communication skills are essential.
