Senior Project Manager, Automation & Electrical

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Automation and Electrical Services group.  Based out of the Regina office, the individual will work within a dynamic team of engineers and technologists with responsibility for delivering on a wide scope of projects.   The Project Managers will oversee the implementation of controls systems, renovations of existing systems, and minor system enhancements at a variety of facilities across Canada.

What you’ll do

  • Successfully manage and execute electrical and automation projects related to the design and installation of electrical systems, industrial control systems, and field instrumentation from initial concept to project closure while effectively communicating with all stakeholders and project team members.
  • Work with a diverse group of project teams including, but not limited to: systems development, network infrastructure, electrical and mechanical engineering, maintenance, and contractors.
  • Complete and guide the preparation of standardized project documents used for budget planning, requests for expenditure, resources planning, execution, and closure.
  • Provide in-house technical guidance on the installation and maintenance of automation systems.
  • Complete detailed reviews and ensure that design meets the intended result.
  • Regularly visit project sites to: assess and finalize scopes of work to ensure completeness prior to the start of a project, to perform inspection and ensure work is on track, respond to questions or challenges, provide stakeholders with accurate updates, and ensure installation meets design standards and project specifications.
  • Accountable for the contractor management process including pre-bid package, contractor selection, site orientation, daily toolbox meetings, risk assessments, etc.
  • Assists Stakeholders in the selection and procurement of products, services, engineered items, and contracted resources on assigned projects.
  • Assists Stakeholders in the development and administration of construction contracts, including contract changes, cost tracking, and project reporting.

What you bring to our team

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in an industrial environment; four (4) years experience in design and installation of projects dealing with electrical and industrial controls; and three (3) years managing projects.
  • Educational background as an Electrical Engineering Technologist or Electrical or Electronic Systems Engineering or a Journeyperson in the Electrical Trade.
  • Working towards a PMP designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge surrounding the installation of large Schneider and/or Rockwell PLC systems; high voltage electrical systems, medium voltage motor control lineups, communication systems including fiber and copper, Field instrumentation, point and continuous measurement instrumentation, robotics, and advanced production data systems is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional, constructive manner.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to influence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills, with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, planning and organizational skills are required.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in Excel, AutoCAD, and project tracking software.
  • Experience in grain, food processing, and bulk material handling equipment would be an asset.
