Job Description:

As a Senior Pension Plan Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in managing the transition, wind-up, and transfer of group retirement plans. This position offers the opportunity to work on pension cases from start to finish, deepening your understanding of Group Retirement Services systems and processes. You’ll collaborate with a range of stakeholders, from plan sponsors and advisors to regulatory bodies, ensuring every step is handled with accuracy, compliance, and care.

This dynamic role combines operational precision, project coordination, and client service, all while supporting Canadians in achieving their retirement goals.

 

What will you do?

  • Manage end-to-end processes related to plan terminations, asset transfers, DCPP wind-ups, and mergers within established service standards.

  • Communicate with Plan Sponsors, Advisors, Business Development, and Financial Institutions to ensure smooth and timely execution.

  • Coordinate with internal client teams and shared services partners to complete all required activities accurately.

  • Ensure legislative and regulatory requirements are met within required timelines.

  • Update plan-level systems and documentation as needed.

  • Provide feedback and collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and strengthen relationships.

  • Actively participate in huddles, problem-solving discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

What do you need to succeed?

  • Strong knowledge of pension plans and related regulations is required

  • Understanding of legislative requirements related to plan terminations and transfers

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage end-to-end processes

  • Case management skills and proficiency in managing systems

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with various stakeholders

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet service standards and deadlines

  • Problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset

  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies

  • Adaptability to handle diverse tasks and cases

  • Experience in financial services or related field preferred

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
