What you’ll be doing

The Senior Manager, Brand Marketing is responsible for developing and executing integrated, brand-focused marketing communication strategies and plans. This role has a focus on our employer brand strategy to lead initiatives that bring our employee value proposition to life, and attract top talent to build CIBC’s workforce of the future.

Reporting to the Director, Purpose & Storytelling, the Senior Manager is a strong brand marketer and communicator who will work closely with partners across various lines of business, functions, agencies, and vendors on brand-focused communications and campaigns that drive our brand and business forward.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Marketing Communications Strategy and Delivery – Strong hands-on experience in the development and delivery of integrated campaigns from brief development through to go-to-market. You thrive on driving business results through strong strategic insight, client focus, and executional excellence. Proven experience in managing digital communications strategies and processes for omnichannel campaigns. Previous experience leading marketing strategy for employer brand and talent marketing is an asset.
  • Project Management – Demonstrated project management skills, with a high degree of organization and attention to detail. Proven ability to manage and drive multiple projects forward in ambiguous situations, often without a predefined roadmap. Comfortable navigating unfamiliar subject areas by proactively seeking out internal experts, gathering insights, and integrating their perspectives into actionable recommendations. Able to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously, coordinating with stakeholders at various stages of each project. Comfortable using project management software to coordinate complex initiatives, as well as budget management software to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Brand Governance Expertise – Ability to serve as a primary steward of the CIBC brand by fully understanding and applying the CIBC brand guidelines and standards. Responsible for reviewing creative and providing guidance to partners to ensure that all internal and external communications, marketing materials and talent-facing assets are consistently on-brand, legally compliant and appropriate for each channel.
  • Relationship Building – Ability to inspire and influence across a matrixed organization to gain alignment and support on recommended marketing strategies and tactics. Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Comfortable making strategic recommendations to senior leaders, clearly communicating both the recommendations and the rationale behind them.
  • Leadership – Well-developed leadership, management, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to excite and lead others in a highly collaborative environment. The ability to “influence without authority” will be a finely honed skill you use regularly. You’ll be a positive reflection on the Brand team and larger Marketing function when interacting with partners – demonstrating your willingness to learn, support the business, and balance established best practices with what is right for our brand and clients.
