Shell Energy Integration & Fundamentals (SEIF) Global Gas Fundamentals team is hiring a Senior LNG Analyst, Northeast Asia to join its global team of market analysts in the Singapore office. SEIF Global Gas Fundamentals Team Mission is: To drive Shell shareholder value through the delivery of world-class decision support.

  • Maximize short-term LNG trading profitability to deliver immediate financial returns.

  • Build advantaged LNG portfolio for mid- and long-term strategic growth.

Decision Support (SEIF)

  • Forecasting: Provide monthly, mid-, and long-term gas and LNG demand/supply projections.

  • Scenario Development: Model market conditions with probabilistic outcomes.

  • Data Infrastructure: Develop scalable platforms for data collection, storage, and analysis.

  • Insight Generation: Deliver actionable market trends and directional calls.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support traders, originators, optimizers, and strategic teams across Shell.

Role Focus

  • Lead analytical coverage of Northeast Asian gas and LNG markets—China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan—with a strong emphasis on China. This is a critical role that supports short-term trading, portfolio optimization, and long-term strategic outlook for Shell globally.

What you’ll be doing

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Forecast LNG Imports & Supply: Model monthly LNG imports by sector (power, industrial, buildings, transport) and include domestic production and pipeline flows (esp. China).

  • Collaborate & Integrate Models: Work with Shell’s Asia Power Analytics team to streamline existing models (e.g., Japan) and develop new power demand models.

  • Analyze Market Signals & Contract Terms: Aggregate contractual data for spot/open demand forecasts and continuously monitor news, pricing, shipping flows, and government data for adjustments.

  • Build Forecasting Tools & Dashboards: Develop and refine models in Excel and DS/ML platforms (e.g., DataIKU) for short-, mid-, and long-term horizons (0–20 years), with clear visualizations.

  • Deliver Insights & Improve Accuracy: Provide country/regional/global forecasts to traders and strategic teams, benchmark against vendors, back-test models, and enhance predictive analytics working with our data science team.

 Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in gas, power, or LNG industry.

  • Proven capability in energy market fundamentals and demand modeling.

  • Expertise in data visualization and energy modeling.

  • Advanced degrees in econometrics, energy economics, international economics, or energy policy.

  • Strong grasp of statistical modeling and stakeholder communication.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with DS/ML platforms (e.g., DataIKU) preferred.
