The job

We are hiring an experienced Employment Counsel to join our global legal team, supporting the Global Head of Employment.  This newly created role reflects AVEVA’s commitment to strengthening our in-house employment law capability across EMEA.

You’ll be the go-to advisor for employment matters in the UK and Continental Europe, with a particular focus on works councils, specifically Germany.  If you are a qualified lawyer with in-house experience, and a collaborative mindset, this is a chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to HR across EMEA, especially in the UK and Europe.
  • Lead legal engagement with European works councils, particularly in Germany.
  • Advise on employee relations, employment projects, and TUPE matters.
  • Monitor legislative changes and guide HR on implementation.
  • Support AVEVA’s whistleblowing/speak-up programme.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Director on commercial disputes as needed.

Skills and Experience

Essential requirements

  • Qualified employment lawyer with a practising certificate in the UK or major European jurisdiction.
  • Experience with works councils in Germany and understanding of other European jurisdictions
  • Several years of post-qualification experience in employment law.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and European works council legislation.
  • Prior in-house legal experience, with ability to hit the ground running.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desired skills

  • Additional European language skills, preferably German.
  • Willingness to take on broader legal work, including commercial disputes.
  • A proactive, collaborative attitude and strong cultural fit with AVEVA’s values.

Hybrid working
