Job Description:

The Senior Learning Services Coordinator of Academic Services and Operations will serve as the lead on essential student engagement and subject specific campus outreach efforts on behalf of the CAS to support LSU student academic achievement, retention, and graduation. The position will also be responsible for overall management of the CAS main office. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Academic Interventions. Primary responsibilities will include learning strategy sessions, presentations, and creation, coordination, and implementation, of CAS programs.   

55% Learning Strategy Sessions, Outreach, Presentations, and Case Management

  • Provide individualized academic and learning support to students through tailored learning strategy consultations to enhance study skills, engagement, and academic performance
  • Develop and create instructional content, resources, and materials to support student learning, retention, and academic achievement
  • Monitor and track the academic progress and overall academic health of an assigned caseload, ensuring participation in academic interventions and maintaining regular communication to support student success
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to promote the Center for Academic Success and its programs, increasing student utilization of academic support services
  • Provide guidance, resources, and academic assistance to faculty, staff, and the general public to foster effective teaching and learning strategies

25% Administration and Supervision

  • Manage the CAS main office to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate support for student appointments and drop-ins, increasing overall student satisfaction and service effectiveness
  • Oversee daily operations of the CAS main office, maintaining a clean and organized facility to promote a welcoming environment and smooth workflow
  • Assess office needs and manage procurement of supplies, ensuring uninterrupted operations and efficient resource utilization
  • Supervise and train all student office employees, ensuring consistent front desk coverage and improving staff performance and accountability
  • Streamline CAS operational processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions, resulting in increased office productivity and reduced administrative delay
  • Manage departmental operational services, including property, facilities, space inventory, and service work orders, ensuring timely completion and compliance with university standards
  • Approve student worker schedules and time entries in Workday, maintaining payroll accuracy and adherence to university policies
  • Provide additional administrative support and assist with large-scale office projects, enhancing overall operational efficiency and contributing to the Center for Academic Success’ effectiveness

15% Program Development, Implementation and Coordination

  • Assist in coordinating the Math Corequisite Workshop series, increasing student engagement, participation, and successful completion of core math courses
  • Support the coordination and implementation of internal and external academic intervention initiatives, contributing to measurable improvements in student retention and academic performance
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Interventions to develop and deliver math strategy workshops, resulting in enhanced student learning outcomes and higher course achievement rates
  • Support ongoing retention services and programs while coordinating select initiatives, leading to increased student persistence and on-time progression toward degree completion
  • Assist in designing, developing, and implementing programs throughout the year to strengthen student learning outcomes, academic achievement, and overall success

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one year experience in a college learning center setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with three years of working in a college learning center
  • Master's degree with 1 year of working in a college learning center

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
